My daughters had a hundred elastics and yet when we needed those two yellow flower ones we could never find them both together without taking the whole box out on the counter. We have recently found this incredible idea of storing them on a carabiner.
Now if you are like me, you probably don't know what thing is called carabiner, but you have probably seen and used one before. I did not know the technical name for these things either, but thanks to wikipedia I do now.
A carabiner (//) or karabiner is a metal loop with a spring-loaded gate[1] used to quickly and reversibly connect components in safety-critical systems.
What in the world could be more critical than a hair elastic when you need one, so perfect gear I figure.
I found these at the dollar store and this is what the elastics look like now.
We have two separate sets one for plain and one with embellishments.
The small clear elastics go in a zip lock baggie and the whole lot of them together go into this drawer labelled - what else - elastics!!
One mess tamed, many more to go.
